The Diploma Course is WSET®´s flagship qualification and globally the most recognized professional qualification in the international wine trade. It is a demanding course and recommended by the Institute of Masters of Wine for proceeding to the MW study programme. The Diploma Course is offered in practically the whole of Western Europe, as well as in the United States, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. The quality of the WineWise Diploma Course meets high standards. The lecturers, mostly Masters of Wine, are chosen for their expertise on the different subjects. WineWise offers guidance in study planning. And also the wine selection is of the highest quality level in Europe.
The emphasis is on the professional approach of wine. All the mayor wines, regions and countries are covered extensively. Tasting technique (using the WSET Level 4 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine®) and hence blind tasting are a fixed part of the course.
WineWise offers the WSET® Diploma Course in the Benelux, meaning that students come from Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg and neighboring countries.
Upon successful completion you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin, and will be able to use the post-nominal DipWSET and associated WSET certified logo.

Course delivery 
The Diploma Course consists of 5 guided units (online or in classroom) and 7 exams. The start module can be followed in the Benelux 3 times a year.
Viticulture, vinification (D1) and wine business (D2) are always by online tuition. After the D1 exam, there is an introduction to wine business and a class on wine tasting skills. The student needs to be present at the course premise.
Students can choose to follow the rest of the course (D3, D4 and D5) online or in classroom.
The lectures are given mostly on Mondays and occasionally on a Tuesday.
In the planning of the programme, the mayor international wine fairs are taken into consideration. The structure of the course is modular, so can spread out over a longer period of time.

Course locations
* D1, D2, D4 and D5 will be offered alternating between Antwerp (Belgium) and Woerden (Netherlands). The student will have to select the course location upon registration.
* D3 will be offered in Meerle – Den Rooy (on the border between NL and BE).

Exam locations
All exams (except D1) will be offered at www.denrooy.com in Meerle (at the border between NL and BE).

Course layout
In the Benelux Diploma Course is offered in separate modules.
– START module (D1, D2, D6)) has to be followed first.
– D3, D4 and D5 can be done directly after or a year later.

Language 
Both the lectures and the exams of this course are in English.

Exams 
D1: Wine production
– 1½ hour closed-book examination made up of open-response questions
D2: The global wine business 
– 1 hour closed-book examination made up of open-response questions
D3: Wines of the world
A theory and tasting examination to be held over two consecutive days:
– Day one – A two-part theory exam formed of open-response questions to be completed in 3 hours 20 minutes (one 2-hour paper and one 80-minute paper).
– Day two – A two-part blind tasting examination of 12 wines to be completed in 3 hours (two papers of 1½ hours)
D4: Sparkling wines
– 1½ hour closed-book examination made up of open-response questions and a blind tasting of three sparkling wines
D5: Fortified wines
– 1½ hour closed-book examination made up of open-response questions and a blind tasting of three fortified wines
D6: Independent Research Assignment
– One research assignment of 3,000 words

Entry requirements
– You will be required to hold the WSET® Level 3 Award in Wines certificate.
– A short Level 3 program, or on-line tuition, is available for Vinologen, Sommelier (Conseil) or Wereldwijnmeesters. Please contact us for more information info@winewise.be
– Minimum age of 18.

Modular registration.
– START module (D1, D2 and D6): € 2.150
– D3: € 3.050 (online: € 1.375)
– D4: € 475 (online: € 390)
– D5: € 475 (online: € 390)

The Diploma course is subject to VAT (21%). For foreign students there is an intra-community exemption from VAT if the student enrolls via the company (pursuant to Article 21 § 2 Tax Code).
Private students also pay 21% VAT.

Included in the full price:
• 3-year WSET Diploma registration and course materials (WSET Level 4 digital study materials)
• Individual skype meeting of max 1 hour to explain the format of the course.
• Online classes for D1 (Viti/Vini) and D2 (Wine Business)
• Classes intro to wine business and wine tasting skills after the D1 exam.
• A non-recurring examination fee for D1, D2, D3, D4 and D5 exams. Students are responsible to change fixed exam registrations BEFORE the registration deadlines.
ATTENTION: In case the candidate doesn’t show up for an exam he/she is registered for without a doctors proof (NO SHOW), the examination fee will expire
• Independent research assignment (D6)
• Classes or online tuition for D3, D4 and D5, depending on the choice student makes upon registration.
• Wine tasting samples in the classroom classes
• Coffee/tea breaks, lunches
• Set of 6 tasting glasses and a spittoon

Not included:
• Hotel and/or dinner, if wanted, during the D3 classes in Meerle
• Books on the recommended reading list
• Recommended tasting samples in the online tuition
• Optional study trips

Further education
The WSET® Level 4 Award isis recommended by the Institute of Masters of Wine for proceeding to the MW study programme and is required to become Weinakademiker.
